“One of the newer and most energizing student projects at SJC Brooklyn is the Grandma’s Love Thanksgiving food drive,” said Sherrie Van Arnam, vice president of student life. “I never cease to be amazed at how our students demonstrate their gratitude for all they have through serving others.”
Grandma’s Love, founded by Theresa Monforte-Caraballo, provides weekly food baskets to 70 families in Clinton Hill, Sunset Park and Bay Ridge. Its mission is to serve at-risk families by combating illiteracy and hunger among young children.
The event was sponsored by St. Joseph’s College’s Student Government Association and Campus Activities Board. It brought together athletic teams, student clubs and administration.
“Every year, the students of SJC Brooklyn generously support our annual Thanksgiving food drive for families in need,” Monforte-Caraballo said. “Their kindness enables us to serve far more people than we otherwise would have been able to.”
