Mark Neuwirt does, and he's betting in the digital age business still need a personal touch.
Neuwirt started Expos your Business last August, a company dedicated to organizing business expos where entrepreneurs can network face-to-face, trade information and hone their salesmanship, all skills the Long Island native said are still very much in demand.
“Digital communication is fantastic,” said Neuwirt. “But I also think personal communication is something we can't lose sight of.”
In March, Neuwirt's company hosted its first Brooklyn Business Expo at Steiner Studios a the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Clinton Hill. The event attracted 140 businesses and over 1,000 visitors, who roamed the aisles between vendor booths collecting free giveaways and business cards. (Spend two hours at one of these expos, and you'll leave with enough new business plans to last a lifetime).
Neuwirt, who hopes to expand his expo operation to the tri-state area and beyond, is following his freshman effort with a second expo September 15, also at Steiner Studios's Stage 6, which he said will be bigger than ever. “I'd like to see 2,000 people there,” he said.
To attract them, Neuwirt is building an all-star lineup of sponsors and seminar speakers- so far Coca Cola, Hess and Disney are on board. “Speakers, who will put their best elevator pitches on display, will have a chance to explain their craft in front of a lively crowd who will get gifts just for hanging around,” said Neuwirt.
If you don't know how to make that golden sales pitch in the time it takes to go from the lobby to floor number ten, now's your chance. Neuwirt said to expect a circus atmosphere at the public workshop sessions, which is good because the show at Coney Island is so far away.
“The September show is looking a lot bigger than March,” he said.
